Water Leak Detector FAQ

How does the water leak detector work?

When water reaches the detector's sensing contacts, the unit sounds a local 90 dB audible alarm so the nearby area can be investigated.

Where should I place the detectors?

Place each detector flat where escaping water is likely to collect, such as beneath a sink, beside a water heater, near a toilet, or behind a washing machine or dishwasher.

Does each detector work independently?

Yes. Every detector monitors its own location and sounds its own local alarm when its contacts reach water.

What batteries are required?

Each detector requires two AAA 1.5 V batteries. Batteries are not included.

How do I test a detector?

After inserting the batteries, use the side self-test button to confirm that the buzzer operates before placing the detector.

What is the difference between the three kits?

The detector itself is the same in every kit. The difference is quantity: choose 3 detectors for focused starter coverage, 6 for broader home coverage, or 12 for whole-property coverage and the lowest cost per detector.

Can I use the detectors in an apartment or rental property?

Yes. Their compact, placement-based design works in apartments, condos, houses, and rental properties wherever a local water alarm is useful.
